When we have excellent phones that offer flagship experiences, like the spectacular Pixel 6, for less than the Galaxy S21 FE, I fail to see a reason why this device should have come to market. Sure, it offers a lot of high-end features for its $699 price point, and that means a lot to a certain segment of smartphone buyers. But then there’s the regular Galaxy S21, which can often be found for less than the S21 FE, depending the available deals....

But that honor seems more reserved for the Galaxy S Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold models these days. The regular Galaxy S and Plus models have been rather same-y for a while now — neither pushes the envelope like their predecessors from years prior did. And I fear that will remain true when the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus arrive early year. Apple’s fiscal fourth quarter numbers only include a sliver of iPhone 14 sales — the phones went on sale eight days before the quarter ended, and the iPhone 14 Plus had yet to even launch. iPhone sales rose 10% to $42.6 billion, a record amount of revenue for the September quarter. Even though I’m a fan of small phones, I think this is the right call. Right now, the only way to get a big screen iPhone is to spring for the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the most expensive model. Some people don’t want to spend a minimum of $1,099 on a smartphone just to get a big screen. Apple going with a non-Pro Max model is a great idea, especially if the rumored price of $899 turns out to be accurate....

In his initial security incident notice (opens in new tab), LastPass CEO Karim Touba said that “we have seen no evidence that this incident involved any access to customer data or encrypted password vaults.” However, we’re now learning that the cloud storage service used by the company to store archived backups of production data was also breached by the attackers responsible. From here, the attacker used stolen source code and technical information from LastPass’ development environment to target one of its employees....
