Microsoft spoke to IGN to confirm the price hike, with a representative claiming that the “price reflects the content, scale and technical complexity” of the games in question. As reported by The Verge (opens in new tab), Microsoft was recently asked to outline its intentions to acquire Activision Blizzard to the U.K.’s Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA). In response, Microsoft (opens in new tab) not only explained its “commitment to a future for gaming that expands beyond consoles," but also its ambitions to create a Xbox Mobile Platform. Microsoft said this would let it make “a next generation game store which operates across a range of devices, including mobile as a result of the addition of Activision Blizzard’s content” It added that by “building on Activision Blizzard’s existing communities of gamers, Xbox will seek to scale the Xbox Store to mobile, attracting gamers to a new Xbox Mobile Platform....

Of course, like all tech initiatives, PlayStation Stars could have a dark side. And, depending on whom you ask, Microsoft Rewards already does. While gaming loyalty rewards programs aren’t inherently cynical, they aren’t purely altruistic, either. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said this at the UBS TMT conference earlier this week (via CNBC (opens in new tab)). Speaking to Input (opens in new tab), Nothing founder Carl Pei confirmed that the Phone (1) will use a custom Snapdragon 778G+, an enhanced version of the 778G from 2021. That means the Phone (1) is a mid-ranger, not the flagship that some previously believed. This actually makes a lot of sense, since a full flagship costs significantly more for a small startup like Nothing. The Snapdragon 778G+ is a customized version Qualcomm did for Nothing, which alone is surprising....

The user said: “Expecting i9-13900K + RTX 4090 Ti recommend PSU at least 1,000 W GOLD.” Known leaker “Greymon55 (opens in new tab)” soon joined the conversation and said that 1,000W “is not enough....

The new RTX 3080 has 8,960 CUDA cores compared to the 8,704 found in the 10GB RTX 3080. As noted on The Verge (opens in new tab), the GPU has 20% more cumulative bandwidth than the current RTX 3080, due to a 384-bit memory bus. Nvidia recommends a 750W power supply, which is 350W in total compared to the 320W on the regular RTX 3080. It’s a nominal update to be sure, but a welcome one nonetheless....

Plex sent an email out to users this morning (August 24), informing them that the company discovered the breach on August 23. Apparently there was “suspicious activity” on one of Plex’s databases, which allowed a third party access to “a limited subset of data." Plex made it clear that credit card information and other financial data isn’t stored on its servers. So your payment methods weren’t exposed, and should remain as safe as they ever were....
